I recognize that a sponsor has a special relationship to the person who is to be confirmed. As a sacramental sponsor, I not only strive to keep God's commandments as Jesus teaches us through scripture and the Church (by loving God and loving our neighbor), but also strive to grow in my relationship with Christ through prayer and the liturgical life of the Church, especially weekly celebration of the mass. With this understanding, I recognize that to serve as a sponsor, I must: Be a Catholic who has been Baptized, received the Eucharist and Confirmed, Be currently living a sacramental life, attending mass regularly, Not be a parent of the candidate, Be able to attend and participate in my candidate's Confirmation Process. I hereby accept these responsibilities and promise that I fulfill the requirements to serve in the role of sponsor.
